There is a history and a sequence of artistic movements.
Sometimes we remember them, we quote them, we talk about them to explain an era, the identity of a moment, or we study them as the anthropological result of the places where they happen to be aware of a historical direction… sometimes!
In this case, the invitation to the Marcello Morandini Foundation marked a moment in which I still had time to listen to the previous generation talk about itself, trying to mark a point in history and present itself with a great work of artistic testimony declined in the first 2 catalogs of the Foundation, perhaps not exhaustive but detailed, thought out, careful, researched, composed.
2 books on the constructivist movement and concrete art, and from there, with the opening and presentation, a lively debate took place in which authoritative artists of other nationalities, French and German, Marcello Morandini's lifelong friends, the artist and designer host of this day.
We are talking about the 60s and 70s, therefore more than fifty years in which, after the movement had taken shape, it continued at the hands of many authors to represent their artistic identity, often under wraps, but often also lively and alive in museum contexts, exhibitions and important private collections..
It was a few years ago, exactly in 2008, when in Venice for the first time I leave Ca' Pesaro, from the Marcello Morandini exhibition, in calle, breathing… the first breath of fresh air was due to the enthusiasm of having could see that collection.
The same one I experienced in 2022 as I left Villa Zanotti in Varese.
Imagine, however, the honor of having communicated with Marcello and the other artists in this precious assembly.
It is therefore possible that my desire to pass on, to observe, the apology of memory that characterizes my work, is not only the matrix in which minds move, but it is itself a feeling that helps me produce and generate art .
